A Note from the Pastor

I recognize that I use Gator football examples a lot in my preaching. Part of me wants to apologize for this (especially to those of you who aren't UF fans or who don't care about college athletics). Another part of me wants to remind you that we live in Gainesville, Florida and that such examples should be expected!

With another Gator football season kicking off on Saturday night, I suspect these examples will find their way back into my weekly announcements and preaching. Just remember, if the Gators win, you'll hear a lot about God's love and mercy. If they lose, expect to hear about His wrath and condemnation. (I'm kidding of course...)

One of the things I love most about the football season in Gainesville is the number of family and friends that will visit over the next 3 months. From tailgates to meals, I'll spend a lot of time with loved ones in the weeks to come. We will make an effort to find time to meet up with one another. We'll greet one another with smiles, high fives, and hugs. It will be a joy to be in one another's presence.

One of the things I love most about Abiding Savior is that we get to do this EVERY SINGLE WEEK. We get to spend time with one another at least once a week as we gather together to pray, sing, hear God's Word, and feast on His Blessed Sacrament. We may not high five one another after Divine Service on Sunday (although I do high five the kids after chapel each week), but the smiles and hugs, and joy of being together in community is always evident in this place.

I can't wait for Saturday at 7pm. I'll be on campus, cheering with thousands of my closest friends. But I really can't wait until Sunday at 8:30 and 11:00am when I will worship with each of you

Go Gators!
