Serving with the Gifts God Has Give

"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."1 Peter 4:10

At Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, we believe every gift we’ve received is meant to bless others. We joyfully serve our local community and beyond, seeking to fulfill Jesus’ call in Matthew 28:19–20 to “go and make disciples of all nations.”

Missions

In June 2024, ASLC partnered with United Servants Abroad in Peru for an exploratory trip to:

  • Witness God’s work in local communities
  • Partner with missionary Tom Hough, whose family has served in Peru since the 1950s
  • Explore opportunities for ongoing mission involvement

This was an exciting step in sharing the Gospel and building relationships abroad.

Helping Hands

Through budgeted funds and congregational participation, Helping Hands supports:

  • School Supply Drive – benefits local schools
  • Fall Food Drive – benefits Bread of the Mighty Food Bank
  • Star Tree Program – provides gifts for children at Christmas
  • Emergency Aid – occasional assistance with housing, utilities, or food for those in need
Meals of Hope

Meals of Hope is an annual food-packing event benefiting Bread of the Mighty, a local organization fighting hunger by providing nutritious meals to families in need.

  • Volunteers from ASLC and the community pack thousands of meals for local distribution
  • Addresses food gaps for students during school breaks and summer months
  • Next Event: Saturday, May 18, 2024 — sign-up info coming in Spring
  • Sponsored financially by ASLC through dedicated and raised funds
